From October 29 to 30, 2025, Professor Woonchia Liu, Director of NIE at NTU, was invited to attend the Conference of Global Alliance of Educational Leaders and Department Heads (GAELDH) 2025, co-hosted by Central China Normal University (CCNU) and The Education University of Hong Kong. During the conference, she delivered a keynote speech titled “From Educators to Innovators: The Role of Teachers in a Technology-Enabled Future”. In her address, Professor Liu provided an in-depth analysis of the repositioning and practical pathways for educators within technology-enhanced environments, offering valuable theoretical insights and practical guidance for the future of education.

During Professor Liu’s visit, Shuangjie Peng, President of CCNU, held a meeting with her, during which both sides engaged in thorough discussions on further advancing bilateral cooperation.

President Peng noted that NIE is one of the most important partners for CCNU in terms of its discipline of pedagogy in Asia.
In addition, during the 2025 World Digital Education Conference held in May, 2025, NIE had formally signed cooperation agreements with CCNU’s National Engineering Research Center for E-Learning (NERCEL) and the National Engineering Research Center for Educational Big Data (NERC-EBD). This has laid a solid foundation for deepened collaboration in the field of education. President Peng expressed his hope that this visit by Professor Liu would serve as an opportunity to strengthen bilateral ties and achieve further breakthroughs in joint research, collaborative training for PhD students, and academic publications.
Professor Liu noted that artificial intelligence is profoundly reshaping education and innovation, redefining the role of teachers, and presenting both new challenges and opportunities for the development of education in Singapore. She expressed her expectation that the two universities could engage in practical cooperation in teacher education, through initiatives such as academic exchanges and short- and long-term student mobility programs, to explore potential synergies and inject new momentum into deeper collaboration.
During her stay, Professor Liu also toured the History Museum and the exhibition hall of NERCEL at CCNU. She held in-depth discussions with relevant research teams at the center on potential future scientific cooperation.
