Professor Zongkai Yang, Director of NERCEL and NERC-EBD, Invited to Attend the Seventh Computer Education Conference of China (CECC) and Deliver an Address

On 29 November, 2025, the Seventh CECC was held at the Xiamen International Conference & Exhibition Center (XICEC) under the theme “New Intelligence, New Paradigm, New Era”. The conference was jointly hosted by the ‌Teaching Guidance Committee for Computer-related Disciplines in Higher Education, the ‌Teaching Guidance Committee for Software Engineering in Higher Education, the Teaching Guidance Committee for Cybersecurity Specialty in Higher Education, the ‌Teaching Guidance Committee for University Computer Science Courses in Higher Education, all under the Ministry of Education(MOE) of China .

The conference brought together more than 100 renowned experts and scholars from academia, education, and industry, with over 2,000 attendees. Discussions focused on the pathways for transforming computer education and its future development in the context of the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence.

During the conference, Professor Zongkai Yang delivered a keynote address titled “Higher Education in the AI Era: Transformation and Development”. He noted that the digitalization of education has entered a new phase from the historical perspective of the integration between technology and education. He introduced China’s strategies and initiatives in advancing artificial intelligence in education, and explored in depth how AI and related technologies can empower innovation in education across six dimensions: environment and scenarios, content generation, program restructuring, educational assessment, educational governance, and scientific research. His presentation emphasized accelerating the construction of a new educational ecosystem suited to the intelligent era, in support of high-quality educational development.

The two-day conference featured 12 thematic sub-forums organized by the four teaching guidance committees for computer-related disciplines under the MOE. Key topics included: “Development of First-Class Programs and Cultivation of High-Quality Talents”; “Cultivating Specialized Software Talent Based on Indigenous Software and Hardware Ecosystems”; “Cultivating Cybersecurity Talent and Professional Standards in Strategic Emerging Fields”; “General Education in Artificial Intelligence”; “Supporting Early-Career Faculty in Computer Science”; “Large Language Models and Digital Teaching”; “Developing Full-Stack Competencies and Assessment for Computer Science Talent”; “AI Plus Talent Development in Vocational Colleges”; “Computer Education in a Time of Unprecedented Global Change”; “Deepening Five-Education Integration to Cultivate Top Innovative Computer Science Talent”; “Industry-Education Collaboration and Ecosystem-Based Cultivation: New Pathways for Industrial Software Talent Development”; and the “MOE–Huawei ‘Intelligent Hub’ Special Virtual Teaching Workshop”.
